About: Duane Ebben Born in Lincoln NE. to the finest parents a child could have.
I joined the Navy during the Vietnam War at age 19. After serving abroad I
returned home and after a short time married my fiancée of 3 years. In 1974 I
answered a help wanted add in the classifieds needing a person to work in a
cabinet shop. Having never run a table saw but with a strong desire to learn,
and pictures from a paneling job in my folks house during high school. I was
given a chance. My first shop was in a very small old Bank building in
Swedeburg, Nebraska. One of three buildings left standing in a once thriving
town. I started with a friends borrowed table saw minus the fence(So I compensated by using a laminated board and C-Clamps.) A cheap
belt sander, orbital sander, compressor, and a few hand tools.
I owe my interest in woodworking to my Grandfather John Ebben.
A decorated WWI Veteran in the famed 7th Engineers and after the
war made his living as a skilled Carpenter. My Father Duane Ebben taught me many mechanical skills. Dad
was a kind, ingenious man and the 5th person in Nebraska to become
a Certified Electronics Technician. In 1984 I was honored to become the
teacher when Dad came to work for me. Working side by side with my Dad are
some of my fondest memories. |
Ebben Custom Cabinets & Furniture
We
are located in Lincoln Nebraska, owned and
operated by Duane Ebben. I have been a professional woodworker for 34 years
having started as an apprentice in a cabinet shop in 1974. I established my
business in 1979 and am currently working in my one-man shop (with occasional
part time help of my son, wife and others) I have produced many unique pieces
for a diverse clientele. Always the perfectionist, customers have often remarked at the high level of attention to detail in my work. I try to work within your budget but will not sacrifice craftsmanship or materials. My reputation is built on
honesty and integrity with a very strong work ethic. I strive to give my
customer exactly what they want by creating a finely
crafted product for which you will never have to make excuses. Ebben Custom Cabinets and Furniture is not limited to just one
style of furniture or cabinets. No two pieces are alike. However if something
in my gallery appeals to you. I can custom build it to your unique
specifications. Each piece is handcrafted from quality materials and build to
last for your generations to come. My
Finish is just one aspect of my work that sets it
apart from the others. Choose from many types of finish or I can color match
your existing woodwork. You may desire a hand rubbed oil finish that brings
out the warmth without hiding the natural feel of wood. Over time a rich
patina will develop and your furniture will become more beautiful. Oil Finish is also
easier to maintain. You may require a more resilient or moisture resistant
finish depending on placement or function.
Either way my smooth finish will draw people to touch your furniture
and cabinets. My Quality Standards
I believe that the finest furniture and cabinets begin with
the highest quality materials. Hand sorted for color, grain, straightness and
moisture content. I have sent many truckloads of material back to suppliers
due to poor quality that does not meet my strict standards. All hardware is of the finest quality. If
a client requests a product that is of inferior grade material I will advise
against it. How to get
Started With Your Project
If possible I prefer to meet with you in person, by phone or
over the internet to discuss your ideas in order to gain a better
understanding of your project, and how you plan to use it. From this we can
start to create your own unique custom furniture or cabinet design. I can
build from drawings, blueprints, or just your ideas. Make your dreams come
true. What can I build for you? Shipping or
Installation
If possible we prefer to deliver your furniture to you
personally or install your cabinets to avoid damage. Damage may occur when
shipped by freight carriers. If out of our local area we will try to work
something out. You may also pickup items yourself. I am willing to work with
builders if you wish to have your cabinets

Much of today’s furniture is imported"Value Produced" junk and will not
last due to poor joinery, poor finish and substandard materials.
Of course it’s cheap~~ and it’s not exactly what you
